A tried and true system

The patrol system stems from Baden-Powell’s method and is central to the Explorer method. Including 6 to 8 youths, each patrol is represented by an animal.

More than a group of friends, a patrol is characterized by a unique structure, the Explorer’s Law, and a Company or Troop Chief who guides its activities.

Learning to be dependable

In a patrol, led by a Patrol Chief (PC), each member takes on a mission called action post (AP). This allows each patrol member to progress and develop competencies in a specific domain (e.g., first-aid, topography, songs, knots, cooking,... ) and in turn educate their patrol.

Gaining self-sufficiency

Each patrol organizes its activities under the tutelage of the Unit Chief (CC or TC) who trains PCs and helps them gradually grow in self-reliance. Youths are called to take on responsibilities, and uphold them. Patrols are thus an environment fostering personal growth and actively contribute to a community.
