Progress begins as soon as an Explorer joins the Company or Troop. After the promise’s commitment, Explorers progress toward the 2nd class rank, and then 1st class rank. Both steps, validated by the Unit’s Council, help recognize Explorers who grow.

A growth mindset

This isn’t about some sort of academic logic, where a certain number of competencies need to be validated, but rather adopt a growth mindset, setting and reaching personal goals, and demonstrating an Explorer’s mindset. In that vein, the Explorer’s progress is supported by the Patrol Chief, as well as the Unit’s Council that awards the ranks.

Progression manual: a reliable companion

The “Pistes” handbook provides details regarding expected accomplishments, organized in 8 tracks and 18 technical domains, as well as additional details applicable to the Explorer’s mindset.
